The Hightower Signature Wealth team in Cleveland (formerly known as Fairport Wealth) believes in making a difference together. That’s why we’ve adopted a policy of selecting one charitable cause each year that reflects our values. For 2026, we’re pleased to announce that we’ve chosen Cleveland Metroparks as our Community Beacon recipient. Their mission is to protect nature, connect communities and inspire conservation of our world.
The Cleveland Metropolitan Park District, the oldest park district in Ohio, was established in 1917. A young, self-taught engineer named William Stinchcomb had conceived the idea of an outer chain of parks with connecting boulevards some 12 years earlier. Stinchcomb’s genius was to anticipate the future need for open space at a time when Cuyahoga County outside of Cleveland was still largely rural. From a few scattered donations of land in the Rocky River Valley, the Park District grew to embrace some of the most scenic areas of Greater Cleveland.
Today, Cleveland Metroparks, recognized as one of the nation’s top park systems, spans more than 25,000 acres across 18 park reservations and over 330 miles of trails that circle the city of Cleveland in an Emerald Necklace. The Park District is also home to nine public golf courses, five nature centers, dining and retail destinations, and the award-winning Cleveland Metroparks Zoo — offering year-round recreation, conservation, and education opportunities for all. The Park District attracts more than 19 million recreational visitors annually and contributes $873 million in economic impact to the region.
